Holland America Line presents its latest cruise liner with 12 decks called Koningsdam. The name of the ship honors His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, the first king of the Netherlands.
The company's CEO described Koningsdam as follows: “This new ship of the Pinnacle class will be our largest and most modern ship.”
And this is really a new type of cruise liner for Holland America Line. With a displacement of 99,500 tons and a capacity of 2,650, the vessel is the largest ever built by a Dutch company. You will see many new public spaces with several innovative features.
To make the new liner truly elegant and modern, Holland America Line attracted two remarkable experts: Adam D. Tihany, one of the world's most famous designers, and designer and architect Bjorn Storbraaten, who already participated in creation of Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam liners.
Koningsdam is volumetric spaces filled with light, flowing graceful surfaces and lines, a complex interplay of high technology and elegance with beautiful architectural elements. The interior of the liner combines a fresh, modern design in harmony with the traditional classic elegance of the Holland America Line. Describing the liner, Tihany says that the architecture of Koningsdam was inspired by music.
“Creating the interiors of this liner, we used elegant lines, dramatic textures, lighting effects and high-quality materials. I tried to bring volume and lightness to all the rooms, thanks to which, in whatever cabin the guest stayed, he would be able to feel a special atmosphere. ”
